Only three Pakistanis were in action in the sixth round of the 2022 County Championship that concluded on Sunday. The batting duo of Shan Masood and Azhar Ali hands down stole the show. Here's a look at how they went along.
Division One
Haris Rauf
The pace bowler has a quiet outing against Lancashire as the batter piled on misery and finished with 566-9 dec in the first innings. Rauf bowled 25 overs and bagged a solitary wicket of Steven Croft when he was batting at 104 and stitched a mammoth partnership of 237-runs for the third wicket. Yorkshire was bowled out for 379 in the first innings and was followed on and scored 169-6 when the match ended in a draw.
Division Two
Shan Masood
The left-hander's fairy tale summer in England continued as he scored another dominating century. Masood made 113 off just 131 balls on Day 2 against Worcestershire and currently sits on top of the run-scoring charts in the County Championship. Thus far, Masood has amassed 826 runs in 7 innings at an average of 118.
Azhar Ali
The former Pakistan captain has turned his fortune around in the last three innings with three fifty-plus scores. The right-hander returned with scores of 88 and 60. His first-innings partnership of 177-runs with Jack Haynes was pivotal in giving Worcestershire a strong foundation. In the second innings, Azhar alongside Jake Libby added 164 runs for the second wicket to ensure there was no collapse.
